But the weekend of August 8-9, 2026 brings two of the island's longest-running gatherings together: the Baracci fair in Olmeto turns 32 this Saturday and Sunday, while the artisan fair in Sampolo, deep in the Taravo valley, opens its stalls on Sunday, August 9.
In between, the island keeps its usual weekly rhythm going, with markets in Ajaccio, Bastia, Calvi and Porto-Vecchio. These are run mostly by local associations rather than the big car boot sale circuits you'd find further north. Baracci fair in Olmeto: the island's longest-running gathering turns 32
Run by the Comité d'Animation d'Olmeto for over three decades, this artisan and cultural fair takes place at the Baracci thermal springs on Saturday 8 and Sunday 9 August 2026. Around 80 craftspeople and producers set up alongside a dedicated antique fair and traditional Corsican music. It's one of the oldest and best-attended events in southern Corsica. Sampolo, in the Taravo valley: a craft and antique fair with real local character
Now in its 19th-plus edition, this small village in the Haut Taravo gathers locals and valley expats every August, around the chine and local craft. The Sampolo artisan and antique fair runs on Sunday 9 August 2026 with up to 52 exhibitors, free entry, and a resolutely village-scale atmosphere.
Ajaccio: the Boulevard Pascal Rossini flea market, a Sunday morning fixture
Steps from the lycée and municipal pool, around thirty stallholders line this pavement market every Sunday morning, selling antiques, curios, furniture and second-hand goods with a Mediterranean feel, without the crowds of mainland car boot sales. For a reliable flea market in central Ajaccio, this is the address.
Bastia: the Sunday antique fair on Place Saint-Nicolas, right by the sea
Old furniture, postcards, books and curios: every Sunday from 7am to 1pm, around thirty professional and private sellers set up in this historic square. The Place Saint-Nicolas antique fair enjoys a rare backdrop, open to the port and the sea. That makes it one of the most photogenic markets on the island.
Porto-Vecchio: the Corse Parkinson charity car boot sale, every Saturday
Open to residents of the Communauté de Communes Sud Corse, this weekly event at the Bar Pimpan welcomes up to 30 sellers. It runs from 7am to 2pm. The Corse Parkinson association runs this car boot sale on private land; bookings are taken by phone the preceding Wednesday and Thursday, a community model quite different from the bigger commercial fairs.
Calvi: the Sunday antique market on Route de Calenzana
Private and professional sellers set up furniture, crockery and antiques every Sunday morning on the Route de Calenzana. Open year-round depending on weather, it's less famous than the citadel but just as much a fixture of local life. Calvi's flea market draws residents and holidaymakers passing through Balagne alike.
Aregno: browsing stalls across from Algajola beach
In Balagne, the Aregno flea market sets up every Sunday morning opposite Algajola beach. Furniture, curios, clothes and books spread out between sea and maquis, far from any city bustle. Arguably the prettiest spot on this list for combining a swim with some browsing. Aregno's flea market stays busy all summer.
Sarrola-Carcopino: the big antique fair at the old ASPTT stadium
Every Saturday from April to October, around fifty sellers bring antiques, furniture, crockery and clothing to the old ASPTT stadium. With a bar, toilets and 500 parking spaces, the Sarrola-Carcopino antique fair banks on comfort as much as size, just outside Ajaccio.
Pianottoli-Caldarello: the village's annual car boot sale for the church
In this small village near Figari, the Associu d'Annunziata organises the village's annual car boot sale each August, closing the Stritta di a Traversa to traffic. Around fifty sellers take part in this community fundraiser, with the proceeds going to the local church — a modest format, but telling of associative life in Corsica's far south.
L'Île-Rousse: the "De la Cave au Grenier" car boot sales
On Place Paoli, this association regularly runs Sunday car boot sales from 7am to 4pm, open to both private sellers and associations, dogs welcome. L'Île-Rousse's car boot sales take place on one of Balagne's finest squares, framed by ochre façades and the sea.
