Our pick of the weekend is La Sauvetat-du-Dropt, where more than 300 sellers spread out across the Prairie des Croquants. A second setting stands out: the Château de la Mercerie in southern Charente, nicknamed the « Charente Versailles », opens its grounds to dealers on August 2. Grande Brocante d'Été, La Sauvetat-du-Dropt: 300 sellers in a riverside meadow (Lot-et-Garonne)
On Sunday August 2, the Prairie des Croquants hosts the Grande Brocante d'Été, on avenue du Gué, behind the sports hall. More than 300 sellers set up here, making it the biggest flea market in the Lot-et-Garonne.
The sale returns every first Sunday of August and draws hunters and collectors from across the department and beyond. A meadow changes the experience: aisles stretch out, furniture sits in the grass, nothing is squeezed onto tarmac. Allow a full morning if you want to cover the whole field.
Ruffec flea market: 200 sellers along the Péruse (Charente)
On Sunday August 2, Ruffec rolls out its big annual sale along the Péruse, the river that runs through town. More than 200 sellers, private and professional, fill the streets and the shaded riverside walk from 6am to 6pm.

Issigeac antiques fair: 70 professional dealers in a medieval town (Dordogne)
On Friday July 31 and Saturday August 1, the Issigeac antiques and flea market fair takes over the area around the Place du Palais des Évêques. More than 70 professional exhibitors, antique dealers and brocanteurs, show their stock from 9am to 6pm.
This is a fully professional event, with no private car-boot section. The medieval town of Issigeac gives the fair a setting few of its rivals can match, and it runs with support from the local tourist information office. For this weekend, Saturday is the day to aim for.
Château de la Mercerie sale: hunting in the grounds of the « Charente Versailles » (Charente)
On Sunday August 2, the grounds of the Château de la Mercerie, at Magnac-Lavalette-Villars, host their annual flea market from 8am to 6pm. Sellers bring antique furniture, trinkets, art objects and curiosities out into the open air.
The building is listed, and its nickname is earned: the park alone justifies the drive into southern Charente. The sale comes back every early August in this setting. Worth a morning even without buying anything, simply to walk the site.
28th flea market under the plane trees, Vigeois: 25 years in the shade (Corrèze)
On Sunday August 2, rue du Foirail and place du Champ de Foire host the 28th edition of the flea market under the plane trees, from 8am to 6pm. Professional and private sellers set up beneath the village's century-old planes.
Running for more than twenty-five years, it has become a marker of the Corrèze summer. The historic village sits on the Vézère, so the day splits neatly: stalls in the morning, riverbank later. Shade remains a serious argument in August.
La Souterraine clearance day: thirteen hours of stalls in the town centre (Creuse)
On Saturday August 1, the centre of La Souterraine turns into a large open-air flea market, from 6am to 7pm. Shopkeepers, dealers and residents lay out their goods side by side in the streets of this medieval town.
The Braderie Brocante combines a traders' clearance sale, a flea market and a car-boot section: three crowds, one route. It is among the big summer dates in this Creuse sub-prefecture. Thirteen hours open means you can arrive early for the good pieces, or late to bargain.
Gensac annual flea market: 100 to 200 sellers in the old village lanes (Gironde)
On Sunday August 2, the Gensac annual flea market gathers 100 to 200 sellers on the town hall square and through the lanes of the old village. Furniture, trinkets, china, books, clothes and curiosities share the stalls.
An aperitif is served on the square between noon and 1pm, a welcome break mid-day. Food is available on site and entry is free. A lane-based layout gives a different rhythm from a single-square market: you loop, come back, and spot a stall you walked past.
Mugron antiques show: the weekend's indoor option (Landes)
On Saturday August 1, the Salle des Arènes in Mugron hosts its antiques show, in the heart of the Chalosse country. Professional dealers present antique furniture, paintings, porcelain, silverware and art objects.
An indoor show contrasts with the open-air sales filling the rest of the weekend. Stock is curated, the atmosphere calmer, and the forecast stops mattering. Worth targeting if you are after a specific piece rather than a chance find.
Antigny threshing festival: rural bric-a-brac and old harvests (Vienne)
On Sunday August 2, Antigny brings back the harvests of the past. Around a hundred volunteers from the threshing committee run old-style threshing demonstrations, a vintage tractor parade and displays of forgotten trades, in the village centre and on the communal fields.
Rural bric-a-brac stalls and local produce round out the day. Created in 1995, the threshing festival draws between 800 and 1,000 visitors a year to this village in the south-east of the Vienne. A format of its own, where hunting runs alongside farm demonstrations.
Coulonges-sur-l'Autize flea market: village streets below a Renaissance château (Deux-Sèvres)
On Saturday August 1, professional dealers and private sellers take over the streets of central Coulonges-sur-l'Autize. Antique objects, vintage furniture and curiosities make up most of what is on offer at this summer sale.
The town sits below its Renaissance château, which gives the day a more considered backdrop than average. Stalls spread through streets rather than one square, which encourages wandering from block to block. A relaxed date in a historic Deux-Sèvres town.
Videz-Vos-Greniers, Saint-Léonard-de-Noblat: hunting below the collegiate church (Haute-Vienne)
On Sunday August 2, more than a hundred private sellers lay out their goods in the medieval lanes of the old town. Bric-a-brac, clothes and objects of every kind fill the stalls of Videz-Vos-Greniers, in the shadow of the Romanesque collegiate church.
The town carries the Plus Beau Détour de France label, and the setting counts as much as the stock. It is one of the awaited dates in the eastern Haute-Vienne. An all-private format, which shows in the prices and in how far bargaining goes.
COS d'Arvert car boot sale: hunting on the peninsula (Charente-Maritime)
On Sunday August 2, the leisure park in Arvert hosts the COS d'Arvert car boot sale, on the Arvert peninsula. The event is open to private sellers only, which rules out professional stock.
Pitches cost 3.50 euros per linear metre, with sign-ups at the tourist information desk in the post office branch. For holidaymakers nearby, it is a way to break up a beach day with a couple of hours of browsing. A village-scale format, nothing oversized.
