Every year at the beginning of August, La Souterraine organises its grand street sale-flea market in the town centre streets. This event brings together local shopkeepers who set up on the pavements to sell off their stock, alongside second-hand dealers and individuals who have come to clear out their attics. From 6 am to 7 pm, the streets of the medieval city come alive with a crowd of bargain hunters and strollers.

The street sale takes place in the historic centre of La Souterraine, offering an exceptional setting for bargain hunting. Visitors wander between the stalls under the benevolent gaze of the Porte Saint-Jean, an imposing vestige of the 13th-century fortifications, and near the abbey church Notre-Dame, a jewel of Limousin Romanesque art.
