Car boot sale and flower market on the Champ de Mars in the Haut-Jura
Every June, the village of Foncine-le-Bas, nestled in the upper valley of the Saine in the heart of the Haut-Jura, hosts an original event that combines a car boot sale and a flower market. On the Champ de Mars, flea market stalls stand alongside plant and flower stands, creating a unique and colorful atmosphere.
On one hand, exhibitors offer the contents of their attics: crockery, toys, books, clothes, and trinkets at low prices. On the other hand, nurserymen and horticulturists present their finest varieties of plants, flowers, and shrubs. This original combination attracts both flea market enthusiasts and gardening lovers, creating a diverse and enthusiastic audience.
The event is enhanced by an original activity: trout fishing in the Saine, a crystal-clear river that runs through the village. Children and Sunday anglers enjoy this activity with pleasure. A refreshment stand and a catering service complete the offering for a festive and gourmet day from 8 am to 6 pm.
Foncine-le-Bas is a village of about 250 inhabitants located at an altitude of 800 meters in the Haut-Jura, at the end of the Saine valley. The village is renowned for its wild landscapes, its waterfalls, and its hiking trails. The Saine, a tributary of the Ain, is a first-category river popular with trout anglers. The flower market and car boot sale is an opportunity to discover this secret corner of the Jura mountains.
