Summer street sale and car boot sale in the streets of downtown Falaise
Every July, the streets of downtown Falaise come alive for the street sale and car boot sale organized by the UCIA (Union Commerciale, Industrielle et Artisanale). This popular event is an integral part of the Summer Fair, a flagship event that paces the commercial life of the birthplace of William the Conqueror.
Between 50 and 100 exhibitors set up in the Place du Docteur Paul German and the pedestrian streets of the historic center. Individuals offer everyday items, clothing, toys, and trinkets, while non-resident merchants and artisans set up their street sale stalls. The exceptional setting of Falaise, with its half-timbered houses and the imposing silhouette of the ducal castle in the background, gives this day a unique atmosphere.
The street sale is not limited to the car boot sale alone: the UCIA schedules events throughout the day, including the now-famous singing competition "The Voix", open to participants aged 16 and over, which concludes the event from 5:30 PM. Food and drink stands on site invite you to extend your stroll through the historic streets.
Nestled in the Norman countryside, Falaise is famous for its imposing ducal castle where William the Conqueror was born in 1027. The city offers remarkable architectural heritage, from medieval ramparts to Romanesque churches, including the Automata Museum. The summer street sale is a great opportunity to discover this historic city while finding great deals.
