Car boot sale of the patronal festival at Chalet du Bugnon, Haut-Jura
Every last Saturday of August, the village of Lac-des-Rouges-Truites celebrates its patronal festival with a festive program that includes a car boot sale, games and entertainment from the afternoon onwards, a pre-concert drink at 6:30 PM, and fireworks at 9:30 PM. The car boot sale is the treasure-hunting aspect of this festive day.
The car boot sale takes place at Chalet du Bugnon, a communal facility located near the lake that gives the village its name. Exhibitors offer trinkets, crockery, clothing, toys, and various items in an exceptional natural setting, at nearly 950 meters altitude, surrounded by spruce forests and mountain meadows.
Lac-des-Rouges-Truites is a small village of about 400 inhabitants located in the natural region of Grandvaux, an high-altitude plateau in the Haut-Jura dotted with lakes, peat bogs, and forests. The village owes its evocative name to the pink-fleshed trout that once populated its lake. The preserved natural setting invites walks and discovery of this little-known corner of the Jura.
Beyond the car boot sale, the Fête du Lac offers a walking rally for adults and children with riddles and observation, games and entertainment starting at 1:30 PM, a pre-concert drink at 6:30 PM, and a grand fireworks display at 9:30 PM. Drinks and light refreshments are available throughout the day.
