Brocante Vide-Grenier de Ruffec

Along the Péruse, a huge summer sale

The Brocante Vide-Grenier de Ruffec takes place every first Sunday of August along the Péruse, the river that crosses the town from south to north. The over 200 exhibitors set up their stalls on the shaded banks and in the adjacent streets, creating a treasure hunt route of several hundred meters, particularly pleasant during the summer period.

Ruffec, sub-prefecture of northern Charente

Ruffec is the sub-prefecture of northern Charente, a small town of character located on the Lien and the Péruse, a tributary of the Charente. Its heritage includes the Saint-André church with its remarkable carved Romanesque facade, the castle ruins, and an old town center with picturesque alleys. The town is a commercial and administrative hub for the entire northern part of the department.

An event that enlivens the town

On the day of the flea market, Ruffec comes alive at dawn. The first exhibitors arrive at 5 am to set up their stands, and the earliest bargain hunters start their rounds at 6 am. The sale continues until 6 pm, offering a long day of good deals. The event attracts visitors from all over Charente as well as from neighboring departments: Vienne, Deux-Sèvres, and Haute-Vienne.

Food and conviviality

Food trucks and catering stands are present throughout the route. Refreshment stands offer hot and cold drinks. The summer atmosphere and the proximity of the river make for a pleasant day, combining treasure hunting with a walk by the water.
