The flea market of Bâgé-le-Châtel
Every last Sunday of September, the flea market of Bâgé-le-Châtel takes over the streets of the town centre, in the Ain. The gathering ranks among the biggest flea market events in the Bresse area. This year, the date falls on 27/09/2026, right in the middle of the target weekend.
Up to 400 sellers set up for a sprawling open-air market. Private sellers and professionals stand side by side: furniture, crockery, trinkets, clothes and all sorts of other items cover the pavements from one end of town to the other. Entry stays free for visitors.
The gathering returns every year on the same date on the calendar, the last Sunday of the month. An anchor that makes it one of the fixed landmarks of flea markets in the Bresse area of the Ain, well ahead of the village gatherings around it.
The rest of the weekend, from the Berry to Corsica
In Paris, the Porte de Montreuil flea market, a nineteenth-century institution less touristy than Saint-Ouen, keeps its Saturday, Sunday and Monday habit, about 300 sellers along Avenue du Professeur-André-Lemierre. In Nantes, the Place Viarme flea market opens every Saturday morning, from 8am to 1pm, one of the city's oldest open-air markets, old furniture, silverware and prints on the stalls.
In the Nord, the Plum Festival flea market of Escarmain mixes secondhand stalls, jam and fairground rides on Place des Anciens Combattants, closing with fireworks; the flea market itself runs from 8am to 4pm. Near Nancy, the Geek Collector fair of Saint-Max holds its very first edition at Place de l'Europe, video games, figurines, trading cards and retro items in the hands of enthusiasts, with a free retrogaming space and a 3-euro entry fee.
In Provence, the flea market of Eygalières closes out the month with more than sixty declared professional dealers, antiques, old furniture, faience and wickerwork. In Corsica, the Place César-Campichi flea market, in Ajaccio, run by the Sacrée Attraction association in the Cannes district, holds its last weekend of the season, which began back in March and ran through the last of the summer heat, two full days of market between Saturday and Sunday.
In the Cher, the Vintage Years of Vierzon, run by SARL Impact at the Parc des Expositions, gather 80 sellers across 3,600 square metres, between retro fashion, design furniture and pin-up fashion shows. In Rennes, more than 300 sellers, led by the Association du Petit Faubourg Saint-Hélier Gares, animate the Saint-Hélier neighbourhood car boot sale from 8am to 6pm, refreshments and food on site. In Charente, the Beaulieu-sur-Sonnette car boot sale, held by the Bélusois sans Frontière association, fills the Place du Champ de Foire from 6am to 6:30pm, stalls priced at one euro per linear metre, free for residents of the village.
