The Cannes market's penultimate weekend of the season
Ajaccio, Cannes district. The César Campichi square market holds its second-to-last sessions of the season this Saturday the 19th and Sunday the 20th of September 2026, just as it has every weekend since March 7, run by the Sacrée Attraction association. Six and a half months of continuous market, without a single weekend off.
Two days of trading in a row, a format few other markets on the island keep up. Few other Corsican markets run this long, from March through late September. It is one of the only markets on the island open Saturday and Sunday at once. Most of its neighbours pick a single day. The calendar has covered the spring awakening and the height of summer, and now enters its last light.
Furniture, trinkets, crockery and bric-a-brac spread across the square all weekend. Stalls also spill onto the nearby terraces, a short walk from downtown and Ajaccio's old port.
The official calendar stops on September 27, 2026, a week after this 19-20/09. Only one more date remains before the winter break, which reopens in spring with the return of good weather and the first stallholders. A page turns. The Cannes district is reachable on foot from the port and the historic centre, no transport needed for visitors coming to browse this last Saturday or Sunday before the season pause.
Eight more markets, south to north
Saturday brings together four different markets, from the south to the gates of Bastia. The grand market of Sarrola-Carcopino opens the old ASPTT stadium on the outskirts of Ajaccio, where about fifty stallholders set up between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. Five hundred parking spaces absorb the morning crowd. In Porto-Vecchio, the weekly Corse Parkinson car boot sale hosts up to thirty stallholders at the Bar Pimpan, reserved for residents of the Sud Corse area, in aid of the fight against the disease. Six forty-five in the morning. Near Bastia, in Furiani, the COSEC car park market opens at that early hour, run by the U Felinu association, at the gates of the Corsican capital. In Folelli, the Espace Semidei car boot and wardrobe sale falls exactly on this third Saturday of the month, its usual fortnightly date. Clothes and second-hand goods dominate the stalls.
Sunday takes over with four more addresses, from downtown to coastal villages. In Ajaccio, the Pascal Rossini boulevard flea market gathers around thirty browsers opposite the high school and the municipal pool. Nothing interrupts this Sunday fixture, year after year, whatever the season. In Bastia, the Place Saint-Nicolas Sunday market lines up about thirty stallholders too. Antique furniture and collectibles join in, facing the sea. The historic heart of the city hosts it from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. In the Balagne region, the Aregno flea market sets up almost on Algajola beach, between sea and scrubland. Holidaymakers and locals cross paths there in equal number. In Borgo finally, the Route de la Gare car boot sale welcomes about fifty stallholders from 6 a.m. Entry stays free for visitors coming to browse before noon.
