Head to Meurthe-et-Moselle for the Fontenoy-la-Joûte comic festival, running Saturday July 25 and Sunday July 26. The Amis du Livre association runs "Fontenoy fête la BD" in the book village, a hamlet better known for its secondhand bookshops than for flea-market stalls.
Eighteen authors and illustrators, regional and national, sign copies throughout the weekend. An exhibition and creative workshops round out the program, built for families and collectors alike.

Les Puces de Metz (57): France's number two since 1978
Every Saturday morning, the Moselle hosts one of the biggest regular flea markets in France. Set up in a hall at the Parc des Expositions, on rue de la Grange aux Bois, Les Puces de Metz has run since 1978.
More than 150 professional dealers show up week after week, from March to December. Turnout tops 150,000 visitors a year — only Saint-Ouen draws more, according to the organizers' own figures.

The Haute-Marne marks a round number this year. The 30th Humbécourt flea market takes place on Sunday July 26, in this town within the Saint-Dizier metro area.
Thirty years of the same event is no small feat in a region where small flea markets often fade after a handful of editions. This one has held on.

Messti and flea market, Romanswiller (67): the village fête, supersized
The Bas-Rhin has its own signature format, the Messti. This Alsatian patronal fête mixes fairground rides, a dance, food and fireworks. The 25th Romanswiller Messti runs around the Salle Vogesia, with an open-air flea market on Sunday July 26.

In Strasbourg, the hunt happens twice a week, Wednesday and Saturday. The Vieil-Hôpital flea market spreads across rue du Vieil-Hôpital, rue de l'Étal and Place de la Grande Boucherie, steps from the cathedral.
Open from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., it gathers dozens of professional and private sellers. Antiques, secondhand goods, tableware: the range spans valuable pieces and everyday finds.

Hartmatten ponds flea market, Obernai (67): hunting in the shade
Head into the Obernai forest, off the road to Boersch, for a backdrop unlike any village square. The Hartmatten ponds flea market runs on Sunday July 26, around ponds normally reserved for fishing.
Around 140 vendors, private sellers and dealers, set up stalls across nearly 700 meters of stands. It's one of the largest layouts of the weekend in the Bas-Rhin.

Rugby Club flea market, Thann (68): hunting beneath the collegiate church
A sub-prefecture of the Haut-Rhin, Thann keeps a well-preserved medieval center. The Rugby Club flea market sets up on Place du Bungert on Sunday July 26, run by the local rugby club.
Free admission, open to everyone: the formula stays simple. Clothes, toys, books and everyday items make up most of the stalls, rather than antique-dealer pieces.
