The Messti, Alsatian festive tradition

The Messti of Romanswiller perpetuates a very old Alsatian tradition: that of the patronal festivals which, historically, celebrated the dedication of the village church. Today, the Messti (Alsatian word derived from German Messe) punctuates the life of Alsatian villages in summer and autumn.

A flea market around the Vogesia hall

The flea market is set up around the Vogesia multipurpose hall, on the sports fields and near the fishing pond, offering a green and spacious setting. Stalls offer antique furniture, crockery, porcelain, silverware, crystal, vinyl records, books, toys, vintage clothing and Alsatian folk souvenirs. Stand rates are very affordable (€10 for 5 linear meters).

Three days of festivities

Beyond the flea market, the Messti offers a rich festive program: gourmet walk, Messti ball, concert aperitif, accordion concert, dance, and spectacular fireworks. The bar and catering delight visitors with flammekueche, pizzas, grilled meats, pretzels, local beers and Alsatian wines.

Romanswiller, at the foot of the Vosges

Romanswiller is a charming commune of about 1,400 inhabitants located at the entrance of the Mossig valley, at the foot of the Vosges foothills, about thirty kilometers west of Strasbourg.
