A spring institution at the foot of the Kochersberg

The Wasselonne Spring Clearance Sale is part of the long tradition of French urban clearance sales, events where shopkeepers, antique dealers and private sellers share the streets of the town centre for a day of bargain prices. Organised as part of the Spring Fair, this clearance sale takes over the Rue du Général de Gaulle and the adjacent shopping arteries. Wasselonne, gateway to the Kochersberg and the Vosges foothills

Wasselonne is a commune of around 6,000 inhabitants located about twenty kilometres west of Strasbourg, at the foot of the Vosges massif and on the border between the Alsatian plain and the Vosges foothills. Historically, Wasselonne is one of the main towns of the Kochersberg, this prosperous agricultural region known as the 'breadbasket of Alsace'. Crossed by the Mossig, the commune retains traces of its medieval past with the remains of its castle, its Protestant church and its typical Alsatian houses. Wasselonne is also a gateway to the Bruche valley, Marmoutier and its Benedictine abbey, as well as to the picturesque villages of the nearby Alsatian vineyard. Its crossroads position has made it a dynamic commercial town, where several major annual events are held, including this Spring Fair with its clearance sale.
