The last weekend of July puts regional flea-market hunting on a bigger stage. Nothing discreet about it: in Yssingeaux, La Fol'Yss lines up close to two hundred sellers on the very day of the town's flower parade. In Val-d'Isère, it's the opposite: only residents are allowed to sell, an almost private format at the foot of the ski slopes.

Antique furniture, crockery, vinyl, vintage clothing: the stock turns over from one edition to the next, which explains the loyal following.

La Fol'Yss, two hundred sellers on flower-parade day (Yssingeaux, Haute-Loire)

Vieux Val flea market, hunting for residents only (Val-d'Isère, Savoie)

Sunday July 26, the Dompierre-sur-Besbre flea market takes over the town's streets, in this north-eastern Allier commune at the meeting point of the Besbre and Loire rivers. Run by the local festivities committee, it draws sellers and hunters for a classic summer day.
