Grand summer flea market in the town center of Yssingeaux, last Sunday of July
Every year on the last Sunday of July, La Fol'Yss — the festival committee of Yssingeaux — takes over the town center for its big summer car boot sale. From Place de la Victoire to Place du Marché, passing through Place Carnot, exhibitors set up from 5 am over several hundred meters. With 180 to 200 exhibitors and a rate of €3/m, this lively flea market coincides with the famous Corso fleuri, creating an exceptional festive day.
Every year, on the last Sunday of July, the town center of Yssingeaux transforms to host the grand flea market and car boot sale organized by La Fol'Yss, the town's dynamic festival committee. This unmissable summer event takes over several streets and squares in the heart of the town, creating a unique treasure hunt route in the picturesque atmosphere of this Haute-Loire town.
The market extends over several axes: from Place de la Victoire to Place du Marché, passing through Place Carnot and several adjacent streets. This town-center layout allows exhibitors to present their goods in an authentic setting, between local shops and traditional Auvergne architecture. The usual 180 to 200 exhibitors offer a wide variety of items: clothing, tableware, books, vinyl records, trinkets, tools, and furniture.
In keeping with the friendly and spontaneous spirit of car boot sales, La Fol'Yss applies a simple principle: no advance booking. Exhibitors set up from 5 am on a first-come, first-served basis, for a fee of €3 per linear meter. This formula encourages both individuals looking to get rid of bulky items and professional bargain hunters, creating a lively atmosphere from dawn.
The La Fol'Yss flea market is traditionally held on the same day as the Corso fleuri of Yssingeaux, a grand parade of flower floats that has made the town famous for decades. This convergence of events makes the last Sunday of July an exceptional day that attracts visitors from all over the Puy-en-Velay basin and neighboring areas of the Loire and Ardèche. Flea market, Corso, and street entertainment combine to create a complete popular festival.
The event closes at 6 pm, giving exhibitors time to pack up before the evening illuminations and entertainment. It is one of the most popular summer events in Yssingeaux and the Sucs region.
