The Saint-Simon market in the lanes of Flavigny

The Saint-Simon market takes place on Sunday, October 25 (25/10/2026), the Sunday closest to the 28th, the saint's feast day. The village has 300 inhabitants. Perched at 400 metres and listed among the Plus Beaux Villages de France, it keeps its ramparts, its fortified gates, its turreted houses and an abbey founded in the 8th century.

In the old days, when Flavigny was the seat of its canton, people from the area gathered here on that day to trade their produce.

Dealers set up from 9 a.m. in the medieval lanes: antiques, trinkets, old crockery, curiosities. Craftspeople show basketry, dried flowers, jewellery, ironwork and sculpture. Producers line up cured meats, farmhouse cheeses, honey, jams, pastries and walnuts.

The Anis de Flavigny, made in the former abbey since 1591, are tasted in the Carolingian crypt. Wines from the Domaine de Flavigny-Alésia and beers from the Brasserie de Flavigny join the stalls.

Free concerts and entertainment run from 9 a.m. until nightfall. Horse-drawn carriages and free shuttles link the car park to the village. Entry and parking cost 3 euros per vehicle, with a small tin of Anis thrown in. Food on site.

Halles flea markets on Sunday, antiques on Saturday

On Sunday, the Puces des Halles in Dijon take over the pedestrianised rues Odebert, Claude Ramey and Quentin from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. About forty professionals offer Burgundian folk art, old linen and lace, light fittings, crockery and glassware. Entry is free. Exhibitors may pack up from 5 p.m., and the Halles centrales, built in 1873, take their cue from Baltard's Halles in Paris.

In Montbéliard, the Puces des Halles set up on place Denfert-Rochereau from 6 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., reserved for dealers and antique sellers. Exhibitors set up under the market hall and around it. Country furniture, fine crockery, old tools, books. Visitors get in free. A pitch costs 1.10 euro per linear metre, and the market pauses in November and December.

On Saturday 24, on place Carnot, the Beaune market brocante brings together fewer than fifty professionals from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., a short walk from the Hôtel-Dieu and the collegiate church of Notre-Dame: antiques, regional Burgundian furniture, twentieth-century design pieces, faience, silverware, engravings, militaria, early period objects. Entry is free. There is parking nearby, and the station is a ten-minute walk away.

In Besançon, the place des Tilleuls flea market, in the Palente district, lines up about ten stallholders from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., on Wednesdays as well as Saturdays. Vinyl records, old books, toys, embroidered household linen. Some arrive as early as 7:30.

In Nevers, the Brocante de la Butte, run by the Arts Mossé association, has seven professionals on Saturday in the parc Roger Salengro, from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., free entry.

Both days, in the hamlet of Bornoux in the Morvan, the Village des Brocanteurs opens its 1,500 square metres under cover from 10:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Entry is free. Six to ten professional dealers show old furniture, light fittings, crockery and tools of yesteryear. Each week, a themed covered market refreshes the offer.

France moves to winter time in the night from Saturday to Sunday.
