Summer bargain hunting at the Santerre crossroads
The Villers-Carbonnel Rederie takes place each early August in this Santerre village located at the strategic crossroads of the Saint-Quentin, Péronne and Amiens roads. A traditional Picard flea market that gathers residents and exhibitors from the surrounding communes, in the friendly atmosphere of rural Somme rederies.
Villers-Carbonnel owes much to its geography. Located at the junction of major roads, it occupies a pivotal position in the Santerre, this agricultural plateau between Amiens and Saint-Quentin that the wars of the 20th century deeply marked. Each early August, the annual rederie reminds us that behind the major infrastructures and the endless fields, the village remains a place of life and tradition.
In the Somme, we don't say "flea market" but "rederie". The word has its music and its history. At Villers-Carbonnel, the rederie fits into this tradition: mobilized volunteers, stalls set up at dawn, coffee and fries as a social rendezvous.
Classic inventory of rural Somme flea markets: clothing, toys, books, crockery, linen, small furniture, knick-knacks, tools.
