Bi-monthly car boot sale in the heart of Arles, a UNESCO city of Roman heritage
The Vide-Greniers du Chemin de Fourchon is a must-attend bi-monthly event in Arles, organized on the 1st and 3rd Sundays of the month from 8 am to 2 pm. Located at 52, Chemin de Fourchon, this outdoor flea market hosts up to 200 private sellers in a friendly and popular atmosphere. Arles, a UNESCO World Heritage site for its Roman and Romanesque monuments—including the famous arena and ancient theater—offers an exceptional cultural setting for this event. Refreshments and free parking are available for visitors and bargain hunters from all over Provence.
The Vide-Greniers du Chemin de Fourchon has established itself as one of the most regular and popular events in the flea market calendar of the Bouches-du-Rhône. Organized twice a month, on the 1st and 3rd Sundays, on a large plot of land located at 52, Chemin de Fourchon, it offers residents of Arles and neighboring towns a recurring opportunity to hunt for bargains, sell, and meet in a relaxed and family-friendly atmosphere.
Arles is a city of art and history whose exceptional heritage earned it a place on the UNESCO World Heritage list as early as 1981. The Roman Arena, a 1st-century amphitheater that could seat 21,000 spectators, and the 10,000-seat Ancient Theater testify to the city's splendor in Roman times. The Thermes de Constantin, the Alyscamps—an ancient and medieval necropolis—and the Cloister of Saint-Trophime complete this remarkable heritage. The city, dear to Vincent van Gogh who stayed there in 1888-1889, is also a major center for photography with the world-renowned Rencontres d'Arles international festival.
Each edition of the Fourchon car boot sale brings together up to 200 private sellers on a spacious and accessible plot of land. The stalls offer the usual variety of Provençal car boot sales:
The pitch for sellers is offered at €5 for 6 meters (car included), an attractive price that explains the constant success of the event among occasional sellers.
The Chemin de Fourchon site has free parking on-site, making access easy for visitors arriving by car. A refreshment stand allows you to eat and cool down during the morning of bargain hunting. Entry is free for all visitors. Sellers can set up from 7:00 am, while the public is welcomed from 8:00 am to 2:00 pm.
Arles occupies a privileged geographical position, at the crossroads of the Camargue, the Alpilles, and the Crau. The Fourchon car boot sale is an ideal stop for bargain hunters who wish to combine a morning of good deals with the discovery of Arles' heritage or a getaway into the emblematic landscapes of Provence. The Saturday morning market, one of the most renowned in the region, and the numerous restaurants and cafes in the historic center complete a day full of discoveries.
The Vide-Greniers du Chemin de Fourchon resumes in 2026 on the 1st and 3rd Sundays of the month, from 8 am to 2 pm, at 52, Chemin de Fourchon in Arles. Maximum 200 sellers, free entry, refreshment stand, and parking on-site.
