The Brocante du Boulevard des Lices d'Arles is a flea market held every Wednesday on the famous Boulevard des Lices, on the garden side, under the century-old plane trees. The first Wednesday of the month hosts the grand flea market, with up to 200 professional and private exhibitors spread along this iconic city artery. The other Wednesdays offer a more intimate market with about a hundred dealers. Antique furniture, paintings, old books, postcards, jewelry, antique linens, and trinkets of all kinds delight bargain hunters in an exceptional setting, in the heart of a city listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site for its Roman and Romanesque monuments. Entry is free, from 8 am to 5 pm.

The meeting place for bargain hunters in the heart of Arles

Every Wednesday, the Boulevard des Lices transforms into a vast open-air flea market. On the garden side, under the majestic shade of the century-old plane trees, professional dealers and private sellers set up their stalls along one of Provence's most famous promenades. This weekly flea market is one of the unmissable events for bargain hunting in the Bouches-du-Rhône, attracting both locals from Arles and visitors from all over the region.

The grand flea market on the first Wednesday

While every Wednesday offers its share of finds, it is the first Wednesday of the month that marks the highlight of the Brocante des Lices. On this day, the grand flea market brings together up to 200 exhibitors, transforming the entire boulevard into a huge market for antiques and old objects. Professionals in flea markets and antiques are particularly numerous, offering carefully selected and appraised items. The other Wednesdays of the month host a more intimate market with about a hundred regular sellers, in a friendly atmosphere conducive to discussion and negotiation.

An array of antique treasures

The flea market on Boulevard des Lices offers a wide variety of goods that delight all types of bargain hunters. You can find Provençal and period antique furniture, paintings and prints, old books and rare editions, old postcards, vintage and antique jewelry, embroidered and damask antique linens, crockery and earthenware, as well as all sorts of trinkets, curiosities, and collector's items. Prices vary depending on the quality and rarity of the pieces, and discerning enthusiasts know that real gems can be found here.

The Boulevard des Lices, an iconic promenade in Arles

The Boulevard des Lices is one of the most famous arteries of Arles, a city listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site for all its Roman and Romanesque monuments. Lined with ancient plane trees, this boulevard has been the beating heart of Arlesian life for centuries. It also hosts the famous Saturday market, one of the largest and most beautiful markets in Provence. The Wednesday flea market is part of this tradition of open-air markets that define the identity of the boulevard. A short walk away, the Roman Arena, the Ancient Theatre, the Constantine Baths, and the Alyscamps bear witness to two millennia of history.

A paradise for passing bargain hunters

The Brocante des Lices is an ideal stop for visitors passing through Camargue or Provence. Strolling among the stalls, in the mild Mediterranean climate and under the shade of the plane trees, offers a moment of authentic pleasure. The dealers, often passionate and knowledgeable, are happy to share the history of the objects they offer. This flea market reflects a Provençal art of living where time flows to the rhythm of discoveries and encounters.
