The Jacques-Gabriel bridge in Blois shuts to cars on Sunday 30 August and hands its roadway to the stalls. Over the weekend of 29-30 August 2026, flea markets and antique fairs close out the summer across Centre-Val de Loire: up to 300 stalls above the river, a geek fair in Bourges and a final summer market in Argenton-sur-Creuse.
A bridge handed over to the bargain hunters
On Sunday 30 August, the brocante on the Blois bridge takes over the Jacques-Gabriel bridge, closed to motor traffic for the day. Private sellers, professionals and collectors set up side by side, 150 to 300 of them depending on the year, with the Loire below on either hand.

Les Vitrines de Blois, the traders' association behind the event, give the famous crossing back to pedestrians every summer for a single day. Browsing happens between two parapets: you put down a carafe, look up, the river fills the whole horizon, and you move on to the next stall. Few markets in the region can offer that kind of setting.
The mix of sellers does the rest: the collector hunting one missing piece stands next to the household clearing out its attic, the dealer next to the Sunday stroller.
The date falls on 30/08/2026, at the very end of the summer holidays, two days before the new French school year starts.
A geek fair in Bourges, village sales and Saturday morning markets
Also on Sunday, Broc'Land Geek Bourges spreads video game consoles, figurines, manga, comics, LEGO and collectible card games over the 2,000 m² of the Halle au Blé. The weekly brocante of Traînou lines up its sixty to a hundred stalls on rue des Bourdons the same day.
Four villages hold their car boot sales on 30 August.
- In Courtenay, the summer car boot sale fills place Honoré Combes, rue des Réservoirs, avenue de la Gare and rue Foch, with a fair and entertainment thrown in.
- In Combleux, a village on the Orléans canal, the annual vide-greniers brings the second-hand tables into the heart of the village.
- In Épieds-en-Beauce, the flea market and car boot sale gathers around eighty sellers in the village centre, a few kilometres from Patay.
- In Nourray, in the Vendômois, the summer brocante pairs its stalls with craft displays and local history presentations on the church square.
Saturday 29 August belongs to the early risers. Les Puces de Tours hold place de la Victoire from 8am to noon with some thirty professional dealers. The boulevard Alexandre Martin flea market opens from 7.30am in Orléans, 50 to 110 stalls depending on the week, and the summer flea market of Argenton-sur-Creuse sets out its last Saturday of the season in the town nicknamed the Venice of Berry.
