About Vide-Grenier Creissels

The Vide-Grenier de Creissels is a major annual event organized by the Comité des fêtes de Creissels, in this characterful village nestled at the foot of the Millau Viaduct. Since its first edition in 2022, this event has brought together nearly 170 exhibitors between the village hall and the outdoor parking lot, attracting bargain hunters and families from all over the southern Aveyron region. Creissels, a medieval village with mullioned windows, famous for its spectacular tufa waterfalls cascading down the Larzac cornices, offers an exceptional setting for a friendly day of treasure hunting. Musical entertainment, catering, and a refreshment stand accompany the event throughout the day.

The Vide-Grenier de Creissels: Treasure Hunting and Friendliness at the Foot of the Millau Viaduct

Each spring, the Comité des fêtes de Creissels organizes a large car boot sale that has quickly become a must-attend event on the Aveyron flea market calendar. Since the first edition in May 2022, which brought together no less than 170 exhibitors and mobilized 25 volunteers from 4 a.m., the event continues to grow. The stalls are set up both in the village hall and in the outdoor parking lot, offering ample space for both sellers and visitors.

An Exceptional Medieval Village between Causses and Tarn

A neighboring commune of Millau, Creissels is a characterful village in Aveyron that has preserved its medieval charm. The houses with mullioned windows, the castle surrounded by its two ramparts, and the stone alleys tell centuries of history. The village is most famous for its tufa waterfalls, a 23-meter cascade tumbling down the cornices of the Larzac plateau to the Tarn River, in a striking natural spectacle. The prehistoric caves and the nearby Gallo-Roman archaeological site of La Graufesenque bear witness to very ancient human occupation.

At the Foot of the World's Highest Viaduct

Creissels enjoys an exceptional location, right at the foot of the Millau Viaduct, the world's tallest cable-stayed bridge, soaring to 343 meters. Visitors to the car boot sale can admire this monumental work of art from the village, and extend their day with a canoe or paddleboard trip on the Tarn River with the Bateliers du Viaduc, who offer excursions along the water in the valley. The magnificent natural setting of the Grands Causses, between the Causse du Larzac and the Tarn valley, makes Creissels an ideal starting point for hiking, climbing, and canyoning.

Finds for All Tastes

The Creissels car boot sale offers the typical diversity of large rural events in Aveyron: crockery and kitchenware, books and magazines, clothing and accessories, toys and children's games, tools and DIY equipment, antique furniture, and decorative trinkets. The indoor space of the village hall allows fragile items to be displayed safely, while the parking lot accommodates larger stands. Savvy bargain hunters know they need to arrive early, right at the 8 a.m. opening, to snag the best deals.

Food and Festive Atmosphere

The Comité des fêtes makes a point of offering generous catering throughout the day. Visitors can enjoy tripoux, an emblematic Aveyron specialty, as well as fries, sausages, nuggets, and crepes prepared on-site by volunteers. A refreshment stand accompanies these moments of conviviality, while musical entertainment creates a warm and relaxed atmosphere. The Creissels car boot sale is more than just a flea market: it's a true village festival celebrating the spirit of the Aveyron community.
