The summer flea market at the foot of Mont Ventoux
Every June, Mazan holds its summer flea market, a favourite among hunters of the Comtat Venaissin and the Ventoux villages. Set in the village, it brings together mostly local private exhibitors from Mazan and nearby communes. From 9 am, stalls come out under the sun of this wine-growing village at the foot of Mont Ventoux. A small €4 entry fee supports the organisation. Provençal atmosphere, low prices and blue skies.
At the foot of Mont Ventoux, Mazan enters its best season in June: Ventoux AOC vines flower, last Comtat cherries ripen, strawberries and asparagus fill the markets. That is when the village opens its summer flea market.
Mostly private sellers from Mazan, Mormoiron, Méthamis, Bédoin, Villes-sur-Auzon, Flassan, Crillon-le-Brave, Carpentras. Bric-à-brac, clothing, crockery, books, comics, records, toys, childcare, decoration, tools, small furniture, sports gear.
A €4 entry funds logistics, security, cleanliness and animation. A common format in Vaucluse that hasn't put off regular hunters.
Visit historic Mazan, its medieval walls, Notre-Dame-de-Pareloup chapel, local AOC Ventoux wineries, cherry growers, and the Château de Mazan once home to the Marquis de Sade. Mont Ventoux towers over it all.
Arrive by 9 am for cool air and the best picks. Hat, water, sunscreen. Cash. Combine with lunch on the Platanes square.
