The great gathering of antique dealers in the Albigeois
Every spring, Place du Castelviel, in the heart of Albi's episcopal city, becomes a vast flea market. The Giant Flea Market of Albi brings together for two days the antique dealers and second-hand merchants of the Albigeois, joined by their colleagues from across the Tarn and neighbouring regions. An unmissable weekend of treasure hunting beneath the shadow of Sainte-Cécile Cathedral, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The Giant Flea Market of Albi is a true institution for lovers of fine pieces and quality second-hand finds. Organised by the Syndicate of Antique Dealers and Second-Hand Merchants of the Albigeois, it takes place each year, over a weekend, on the emblematic Place du Castelviel. This unique site, nestled between Sainte-Cécile Cathedral and the Berbie Palace, provides an exceptional setting for this great gathering dedicated to antique furniture, works of art and character-filled second-hand goods.
Around seventy professionals display their treasures on the cobblestones of Castelviel: regional furniture, Giroussens earthenware, silverware, antique linen, jewellery, engravings, old books, lighting, advertising items and curiosities. Antique dealers established in the region are joined by colleagues from Tarn-et-Garonne, Aveyron, Hérault and Haute-Garonne. The covered Castelviel hall, where a weekly Saturday morning flea market takes place, complements the event and allows sheltered browsing.
Beyond the hunt, it is the very soul of Albi that expresses itself during the Giant Flea Market. The terraces of the Castelviel district come alive, the cobbled streets of the old town fill with strollers, and the neighbouring cafés and gourmet restaurants fully enjoy the buzz.
Connoisseurs arrive early, from 8am, to spot the finest pieces before the crowds. Wear comfortable shoes: Place du Castelviel is cobbled. Parking can be difficult in the town centre: use peripheral car parks and walk to Castelviel through the medieval streets.
The Giant Flea Market of Albi returns on Saturday 30 and Sunday 31 May 2026 at Place du Castelviel. About seventy professional antique dealers are expected for two days of treasure hunting at the heart of the episcopal city, from 8am to 7pm. Free admission.
