Bargain hunting under the Castelviel hall on France's national day
Set up under the covered hall of Castelviel, just a stone's throw from the UNESCO-listed Sainte-Cécile Cathedral, the Bastille Day flea market in Albi offers a unique setting for bargain hunters. Around 70 exhibitors from across the Tarn department and neighbouring areas gather for an exceptional day of hunting at the foot of the Berbie Palace.
On the tables, a delightful inventory of Occitan art de vivre unfolds: antique Languedoc furniture, regional earthenware, old tools and trade objects, household linen, vintage books, Albi postcards, vinyl records, costume jewellery, retro toys, film cameras and curiosities. Professional antique dealers mingle with occasional sellers, guaranteeing a genuine variety of prices and pieces.
Organised by the Castelviel team who run the Saturday morning flea market at the same venue, this special edition aims to welcome both summer tourists and locals in a friendly atmosphere, between tastings of local produce and walks through the medieval streets.
After bargain hunting, visitors enjoy the evening's popular ball and fireworks display from the banks of the Tarn, with a spectacular view of the Old Bridge.
Hours: 7am-7pm continuously, under the Halle du Castelviel.
Admission: free for visitors.
Organizer contact: 07 77 28 04 32.
Special edition for the national holiday, organized in addition to the weekly Castelviel flea market (on Saturdays). The city's fireworks display is visible in the evening from the neighborhood.
