Car boot sale of May 1st in the small village of Chevigny, near Poligny
Every May 1st, the small village of Chevigny, located at the foot of the Jura vineyards between Poligny and Arbois, hosts its annual car boot sale. This spring event takes advantage of the public holiday to bring together exhibitors and visitors in a relaxed and family atmosphere.
The exhibitors, mainly individuals, set up their stalls in the village center and offer a range of various items: crockery, toys, books, clothes, tools, and trinkets. The green setting of the Poligny vineyards, with its slopes planted with Savagnin and Chardonnay, adds extra charm to this day of outdoor treasure hunting.
Chevigny is a village of about 100 inhabitants located on the first slopes of the Revermont, on the edge of the Jura vineyards. The commune, bordered by vineyards and meadows, offers beautiful views of the Bresse plain. This preserved natural setting is the main charm of this country car boot sale.
On Labor Day, while others are looking for lily of the valley, bargain hunters in Chevigny browse the stalls in search of a good deal. The refreshment stand offered by the organizers allows for toasts among neighbors and visitors. A simple and authentic car boot sale, reflecting the discreet charm of this Jura vineyard village.
