The Car boot sale of Bords: bargain hunting by the Charente

Every year in May, the village of Bords organizes its annual car boot sale on the church square and rue Port Paradis, in the heart of the village. The Comité des Fêtes de Bords orchestrates this popular event which brings together between 50 and 100 exhibitors, both individuals and professionals, in an authentic village setting on the banks of the Charente.

Church square and rue Port Paradis

The car boot sale unfolds on Place Marc Tranquart, in front of the village church, and extends into rue Port Paradis, offering a picturesque route for bargain hunting between the Charentais houses and the nearby river. Exhibitors set up from 6:30 am, with the possibility of parking their vehicle at their spot. The stalls offer a varied assortment: antique trinkets, crockery, toys, second-hand books, tools, and everyday objects.

Bords, a riverside village on the Charente

Bords is a peaceful village located on the left bank of the Charente, between Rochefort and Saint-Savinien. Its port, once active for river trade, testifies to the historical importance of navigation on the Charente. The surrounding marshes, floodplains, and shaded banks form a preserved natural environment, conducive to walks and wildlife observation. The car boot sale is part of the dynamic associative life of this rural village in the Charente valley.

Tombola, refreshments, and conviviality

The Comité des Fêtes de Bords does more than just organize the car boot sale: a tombola is offered to visitors, adding an element of surprise to the day. The refreshment stand and on-site catering, run by volunteers, allow visitors to eat between finds. Toilets are available on site, and parking is free around the square.

Practical information

Admission is free for visitors. The exhibitor spot is charged at 2.50 euros per linear meter. The event runs from 8 am to 6:30 pm for visitors, with exhibitors able to set up from 6:30 am.
