Rural and gastronomic fair of Aullène on July 26th, producers and artisans market, Corsican animals celebration
A Fiera d'Audde – Animali Nustrale in Festa is the annual rural festival of Aullène, held on July 26th in this perched village of Alta Rocca. Market with 35 to 40 Corsican producers and artisans, animal park with local breeds, sheepdog demonstrations, donkey rides, spit-roasted veal, and festive atmosphere. An authentic immersion in Corsican rural life.
Every year on July 26th, the village of Aullène (Audde in Corsican) hosts its major rural fair: A Fiera d'Audde – Animali Nustrale in Festa, whose Corsican name can be translated as "Aullène Fair – Our Animals Celebrate". This event is more than just a market; it's a celebration of Corsican rural identity, its local products, its crafts, and its animal breeds.
The fair features a market with 35 to 40 colorful and varied stalls where Corsican producers and artisans showcase the best of their creations and products. It's an opportunity to discover and buy directly from producers cheeses, cured meats (lonzo, coppa, figatellu…), honeys, jams, canistrelli and other Corsican biscuits, wines, and craft beers, as well as artisanal art pieces.
The unique feature and pride of the Fiera d'Audde is its large animal park, which highlights Corsican animal breeds. Visitors and children can meet cows, Corsican pigs (u porcu neru), horses, goats, and Corsican sheepdogs, and learn more about local breeding practices. Sheepdog demonstrations — showing the gathering and herding of flocks — and horse agility courses liven up the day. Donkey rides are organized for the younger ones.
The fair concludes in the evening with the traditional community meal, featuring a spit-roasted veal at 8 PM, accompanied by wines and specialties from the present producers. This moment of sharing around the fire is the symbol of Corsican conviviality and brings together residents, exhibitors, and visitors in an authentic festive spirit.
