In summer, the village of Petreto-Bicchisano comes alive each week with a producers' evening market open from 5 PM to 11 PM. This summer event combines several aspects: a local producers' market, a car boot sale and dressing area, discovery workshops for Corsican crafts, and on-site catering, all in a friendly atmosphere typical of the Corsican hinterland villages at dusk.
The producers' market brings together farmers and artisans from the Petreto region and the Sartenais, offering the best of their productions: farmhouse cheeses (ewe's tomme, PDO brocciu), Corsican artisanal charcuterie (figatelli, coppa, lonza, prisuttu), fig jams, maquis honeys, essential oils, and local wines and liqueurs. These products, often unavailable in supermarkets, represent the excellence of island agropastoralism.
Alongside the food market, a car boot sale and dressing area offers antique objects, clothes, accessories, and collectible items. This flea market section attracts bargain hunters looking to find an authentic piece while enjoying the market evening. The combination of a food market and a flea market is particularly popular in Corsican villages, allowing for shopping and errands in a single, friendly outing.
The event also offers discovery workshops allowing visitors to explore the island's traditional know-how: traditional Corsican weaving, island cuisine, and distillation of maquis plants. These workshops, led by local artisans, offer an educational and cultural dimension particularly appreciated by families and tourists curious about Corsican culture.
Petreto-Bicchisano is a commune in South Corsica in the canton of Sartène, formed by the merger of two hamlets—Petreto and Bicchisano—located about 500 meters above sea level in the hills of the Sartenais. The village overlooks the Taravo and Rizzanese valleys and offers an exceptional panoramic view. Its geographical location makes it a stopover on the route of Corsican villages and the GR20.
The evening producers' market and car boot sale of Petreto-Bicchisano will return in summer 2026, from 5 PM to 11 PM. Corsican terroir products, flea market, craft workshops. Free admission, Sartenais, South Corsica.
