Neighbourhood bargain hunting on the Saint-Martin plain
In early July, the Ham East neighbourhood committee organises its annual flea market on the green square of the Saint-Martin plain. With around fifty exhibitors, this neighbourhood event carries the friendliness and associative dynamism of this area of Ham, a historic town in the eastern Santerre. A human-scale flea market combining amateur bargain hunting and neighbourhood social bond.
The Ham East neighbourhood committee flea market is typical of these proximity events run by local associations that enliven the life of urban neighbourhoods.
Ham is a small town of around 4,500 inhabitants located in the eastern Santerre. Its history is particularly striking: medieval stronghold, it was endowed with an imposing castle whose 33-metre-high keep was one of the most famous in France.
The green square of the Saint-Martin plain is a public space typical of towns rebuilt between the wars: vast, airy, tree-lined.
With its 50 mainly private exhibitors, the Ham East flea market offers the classic range of neighbourhood events.
A day in Ham for the flea market can be enriched by discovering the town and its surroundings.
