Annual toy and childcare items fair in Drulhe, a Templar village in northern Aveyron
The Bourse aux Jouets et Puériculture de Drulhe is an annual event organized by the APEL of Drulhe every spring in the village hall of this small village in northern Aveyron. Families from the Montbazens plateau and surrounding areas gather to buy, sell, or exchange toys, games, childcare items, and children's equipment at reduced prices. A refreshment stand and on-site catering accompany this friendly day in a village with a rich Templar heritage.
Every spring, the village of Drulhe in Aveyron hosts its Toy and Childcare Fair, an event organized by the APEL of Drulhe (Association des Parents d'Élèves de l'Enseignement Libre). This fair is an opportunity for families from the Montbazens plateau and all of northern Aveyron to give a second life to toys, games, and childcare items that their children no longer use, while also finding good deals.
Drulhe is a village of about 450 inhabitants located on the Montbazens plateau, in the north of Aveyron, about fifteen kilometers northeast of Villefranche-de-Rouergue. The commune is inseparable from the history of the Templars: in 1166, Déodat de Mirabel and his descendants donated the town of Drulhe to the Knights Templar, who established a commandery there next to the Notre-Dame church, which became the parish church. From this prestigious era, a 12th-century tower remains, a vestige of the Templar commandery, located opposite the village's old forge. The church of Drulhe, built by the Templars, still preserves their cross engraved at the top of the vaults. The village also has a chapel with a unique past: according to legend, Jean Foissac, suffering from a leg tumor, vowed to build an oratory if he was healed. Granted his wish, he built a small chapel that became a popular pilgrimage site, attracting over a thousand pilgrims in 1893. Restored by the association “Drulhe, its history on the Templar path,” this chapel and its 17th-century sculpted altarpiece are part of the village's remarkable heritage.
The Bourse aux Jouets et Puériculture de Drulhe offers a wide range of items for children and young parents:
All items are sold at reduced prices, allowing families to refresh their children's toys and equipment without breaking the bank, while adopting an eco-responsible approach to reuse.
The fair is held at the Salle des fêtes de Drulhe, a covered and heated space that can accommodate the event regardless of weather conditions. A refreshment stand and on-site catering are available throughout the day, adding to the friendly atmosphere of this annual family gathering. The proceeds from the event are donated to support school and extracurricular activities organized by the APEL, thus directly contributing to the education and development of children in the village and neighboring communities.
