Edgar Soumille Airfield Flea Market of Pernes-les-Fontaines

An airfield turned treasure-hunter's paradise

The Edgar Soumille Airfield, on chemin Saint-Gens in Pernes-les-Fontaines, is the unusual setting of a unique weekly flea market. Every Saturday, the secondary runway and the surrounding pinewood welcome 100 to 200 exhibitors from across the department. Shaded pines, flat ground, easy vehicle access, and the quiet of a small airfield where light planes still fly during the week.

Amorich organises the event with precision. Exhibitors set up from 5 am, visitors arrive from 7 am. Marked pitches, toilets, refreshments, free coffee for exhibitors. Booking before Thursday evening, no food sales, about €13 for 5 linear metres.

What to find

Variety is key because this is mostly a private-seller event. Clothing, crockery, books, records, tools, light furniture, toys, childcare items, decoration, trinkets, old textiles, light brocante, video games, DVDs, appliances, sports gear.

A Saturday morning ritual

For many Comtat hunters, it has become the Saturday morning ritual: regulars meet, negotiate, share finds. Friendly, relaxed atmosphere, far from the crowds of larger events. Families welcome, collectors rewarded.

Tips

Arrive before 8 am. Bring cash, reusable bags, a tape measure for textiles. Avoid the hottest summer days or come early. Combine with a visit to historic Pernes.
