Every year in May, the village of Sault-Saint-Remy (Ardennes) hosts its large annual flea market. With its approximately 230 exhibitors, this spring event is among the most important flea markets in the Rethel-Charleville sector in the Ardennes. The event attracts bargain hunters from all over the region and offers a great opportunity to discover this typical Ardennes village.
For a modest-sized village, hosting 230 exhibitors represents a considerable organizational effort, and the success of the Brocante de Sault-Saint-Remy testifies to the dynamism of associations and the involvement of the inhabitants. The stalls offer a wide range of goods: rural and bourgeois furniture, antique tableware, glassware, books, postcards, agricultural tools, vintage toys, clothing and textiles, trinkets, and curiosities of all kinds. The early birds—exhibitors and morning bargain hunters—set up as early as dawn, sometimes before 7 a.m., to get the best spots or the best deals.
Sault-Saint-Remy is a commune in the northern plains of the Ardennes, in the canton of Rethel. This territory of large farms, hedgerows, and forests offers open and peaceful landscapes, very different from the rugged landscapes of the Ardennes massif in the south of the department. The village retains a typical rural architecture of the chalky Champagne region and offers an authentic setting for this popular event. Visitors to the flea market can extend their getaway by exploring the region and its villages.
The Brocante de Sault-Saint-Remy is held outdoors, generally taking advantage of the good May weather to offer exhibitors and visitors pleasant conditions. The pricing is attractive: individuals benefit from an advantageous package for their first meters of space, with a moderate rate for additional meters. The atmosphere is both relaxed and lively, with the characteristic friendliness of village events.
The Brocante de Sault-Saint-Remy is held every year on the second Sunday of May in Sault-Saint-Remy. Entry is free for visitors. Opening to visitors is generally from 6:30 a.m. Exhibitors must register with the organizers. Sault-Saint-Remy is accessible from Rethel (about 12 km), Charleville-Mézières (about 40 km), and Reims (about 55 km).
The Brocante de Sault-Saint-Remy 2026 is scheduled for Sunday, May 10th. Around 230 exhibitors are expected for this large spring flea market.
