Annual car boot sale at the Saint-Paterne-Racan leisure ground, Escotais valley
The Saint-Paterne-Racan festival committee organizes its annual car boot sale at the town's leisure ground and stadium. A family event with children's entertainment, food, and a friendly atmosphere in the green Escotais valley.
The car boot sale of Saint-Paterne-Racan is held each year at the town's leisure ground and stadium, offering a vast space to accommodate exhibitors and the public. Individuals offer a nice assortment of second-hand items: clothes, toys, dishes, tools, trinkets, small furniture, board games, and various finds. Registration is mandatory, at a rate of €1 per linear meter (minimum 5 meters).
Saint-Paterne-Racan is a village of about 1,700 inhabitants nestled in the Escotais valley, about forty kilometers north of Tours. The town owes part of its fame to the poet Honorat de Bueil, Marquis de Racan, a disciple of Malherbe, who lived there in the 17th century. The Saint-Paterne church, the Château de la Roche-Racan, and the rolling landscapes of the Gâtine tourangelle form a remarkable heritage setting.
Entertainment for children complements the day of treasure hunting. Food - hamburgers, sandwiches, crepes, ice cream - and a bar are provided by the festival committee. Admission is free for visitors.
The car boot sale by the Saint-Paterne-Racan festival committee returns in September 2026.
