Flea market and peasant festival in Saint-Laurent-de-Lin, old-fashioned threshing and old trades in Gâtine tourangelle
The flea market of Saint-Laurent-de-Lin is part of the famous Peasant Festival, an event that recreates old-fashioned threshing, old trades, and farm life in 1900, at the Chêne Pilé farm.
The flea market of Saint-Laurent-de-Lin is the highlight of the Saturday of the Peasant Festival, an exceptional event organized by the association Traditions et Loisirs at the ferme du Chêne Pilé. Bargain hunters wander among the stalls of exhibitors offering old agricultural tools, rustic furniture, crockery, copperware, books, toys, clothing, embroidered linens, farm objects, and rural curiosities. Entry on Saturday is free, and in the evening, a gigot-ficelle dinner with musical entertainment extends the celebration.
On Sunday, the Peasant Festival recreates farm life in 1900: old-fashioned threshing powered by a steam engine, demonstration of old trades (wheelwright, blacksmith, carpenter, clog maker, turner, ropemaker, wool spinning, lacemaking), oxen and donkeys at work. Saint-Laurent-de-Lin is a small village in the Gâtine tourangelle, north of Tours, whose rural heritage is highlighted by this unique event in Touraine.
The flea market is held on Saturdays (free entry). On Sundays, entry is €7 for the peasant festival. Catering on site.
The Peasant Festival and flea market of Saint-Laurent-de-Lin returns in August 2026.
