Grand flea market and August 15th festival in Thenay, 100 exhibitors on Place Alexandre Bernier
The August 15th flea market in Thenay is one of the summer highlights in the south of Indre. Each year, around a hundred exhibitors take over Place Alexandre Bernier to offer flea market items, car boot sale items, and crafts, as part of a patronal festival that includes entertainment, fireworks, dancing, and food.
Every August 15th, the commune of Thenay organizes its grand patronal festival around a flea market and car boot sale that brings together about 100 exhibitors on Place Alexandre Bernier and in the adjacent streets. Professionals and individuals offer furniture, trinkets, tableware, tools, clothing, books, toys, and collector's items. An artisanal market complements the offering with local creators and producers.
Thenay is a commune of about 900 inhabitants located in the south of the Indre department, near Saint-Aignan-sur-Cher and bordering Loir-et-Cher. The village is nestled in a landscape of wooded hills and vineyards, at the gates of the Cher river. Place Alexandre Bernier, the heart of the village, offers a shaded and friendly setting for this great festive day that attracts visitors from all over the canton.
Beyond the flea market, the August 15th festival in Thenay offers a rich program: introduction to climbing, country dance initiation, shared aperitif starting at 6 p.m., outdoor meal in the evening (moules-frites by reservation), fireworks, and a free dance party. Entertainment begins on August 13th with a concert and continues on the 14th with a pétanque competition.
The August 15th flea market and festival return to Thenay on August 15, 2026, with approximately 100 exhibitors.
