An event that combines treasure hunting and exceptional heritage.
Every summer, the town center of Valençay (36600) hosts its grand flea market from 8 am to 5:30 pm. Exhibitors take over the streets and squares of the town to offer antique furniture, trinkets, tableware, books, collector's items, lighting, frames, and a thousand curiosities to discover. The event attracts treasure hunters from all over the department and beyond, seduced by the unique combination of a generous flea market and an exceptional heritage setting dominated by the Château de Valençay.
Valençay is a small town of about 2,500 inhabitants, famous for its Renaissance castle acquired in 1803 by Charles-Maurice de Talleyrand on Napoleon's orders. This listed monument, with its tuffeau facades and pepper-pot domes, houses a museum and sumptuous French gardens. The town is also known for its AOP goat cheese, the Valençay, shaped like a truncated pyramid. Treasure hunting at the foot of this castle means combining the art of finding treasures with the discovery of a major historical heritage site in the Loire Valley.
The flea market is held on Sunday, July 26, 2026 in the town center of Valençay. Free admission. Refreshments and food available on site. Free parking on the outskirts.
