Hunting in Normandy this weekend: Falaise, Saint-Vaast and Saint-Marc in Rouen

By Christophe Contard — Éditeur web indépendant

From the BASC flea market in Falaise to the stalls facing the Vauban forts of Saint-Vaast-la-Hougue: eleven hunting stops across Normandy on June 20-21, 2026.

Solstice weekend, and Normandy pulls out all the stops. No bank holiday, but a fine density of events across all five departments: big village foires à tout, seaside vide-greniers, a dealers-only display and even a militaria fair in D-Day country. Sunday June 21 concentrates most of the annual gatherings, though a few open as early as Saturday. What to aim for first? Our pick goes to the BASC flea market in Falaise, which lines up between 200 and 300 sellers each year at the Parc de la Fresnaye, in the town of William the Conqueror. Here is a tour of the eleven stops not to miss, from the Cotentin to the Pays de Caux.

BASC flea market in Falaise, Parc de la Fresnaye (Calvados)

On Sunday June 21, the BASC association flea market (Brocante Antiquités Souvenirs et Collections) sets out one of the biggest displays in the Calvados at the Parc de la Fresnaye, rue Georges Clemenceau. Each year, between 200 and 300 sellers, private and professional alike, set up in this leafy park at the heart of William the Conqueror's town. Doors open to visitors from 6am (sellers from 5am), which rewards the early risers. You will find a bit of everything: antique furniture, tableware, vinyl, books, toys, knick-knacks and curiosities. It is one of the major hunting events of the southern Calvados, a stone's throw from the ducal castle. Arrive early for the best choice and to enjoy the cool of the park before the June heat.

Caen dealers' display, at the exhibition centre (Calvados)

Dealers only on the selling side, the Caen dealers' display is held at the Parc des Expositions, 17 rue Joseph Philippon. Between 50 and 100 flea-market and antiques dealers offer period objects, collectors' pieces, books and treasures of yesteryear. Entry stays free for visitors, from 8am to 1pm: this is a morning affair, with sellers setting up from 5am. The format mostly appeals to seasoned hunters after a fine piece or a specific object, in a covered, open setting far from the bustle of outdoor vide-greniers. The Lower Normandy capital thus offers an upmarket complement to the big popular displays of the weekend.

Cabourg summer flea market, by the market hall (Calvados)

On the Côte Fleurie, the Cabourg summer flea market gathers around fifty professional dealers on avenue du Commandant Bertaux Levillain, in front of the market hall, from 8am to 6:30pm. Small furniture, knick-knacks, silverware, display pieces and decorative items: the selection is that of a professional flea market, a notch above a classic vide-grenier. Free entry. The trump card is the setting: the Belle Époque resort dear to Proust, its villas and its Promenade Marcel Proust just steps away. You can hunt in the morning then head to the beach in the afternoon, which makes Cabourg an ideal stop to mix second-hand finds with a family seaside outing.

Les Andelys summer flea markets, on the Seine quay (Eure)

On Sunday June 21, the Les Andelys summer flea markets set up on the Seine quay, at the foot of the cliffs and facing Château Gaillard, the fortress of Richard the Lionheart. The setting is one of the most spectacular on the Normandy calendar: you hunt at the water's edge, between the river's meanders and the medieval silhouette rising on the hill. Private sellers and hunters gather in a relaxed summer atmosphere. Furniture, tableware, knick-knacks, clothing: the choice is that of a village flea market, but the backdrop makes it far more than a simple display. Combine with a climb to Château Gaillard for a sweeping view over the Seine valley once the shopping is done.

Saint-Jean-de-Daye vide-grenier, Place de la Mairie (Manche)

On Saturday June 20, the Saint-Jean-de-Daye vide-grenier brings together around 80 sellers on Place de la Mairie, in this marsh village of the Manche between Saint-Lô and Carentan. Run by local associations, it is one of the few Saturday displays of this weekend, making it a good warm-up for hunters who want to get ahead. The village, set on the left bank of the Vire on the edge of the Marais du Cotentin et du Bessin regional nature park, offers a quiet rural setting. Furniture, tableware, toys and knick-knacks at gentle prices: this is neighbourhood hunting, friendly and unpretentious, in the heart of the Manche bocage.

La Hougue vide-greniers, Saint-Vaast-la-Hougue (Manche)

On Sunday June 21, the festival committee opens the summer season of the La Hougue vide-greniers, on the harbour esplanade of Saint-Vaast-la-Hougue. The setting is exceptional: you hunt facing the sea, with a view of the Vauban forts listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, in one of the most charming oyster ports of the Val de Saire. The first of three summer dates, this vide-grenier gathers residents and holidaymakers laying out furniture, tableware, clothing and objects of every kind. The maritime atmosphere and the Cotentin light are the heart of the morning. Combine with an oyster tasting at the harbour and a walk to the fort de la Hougue, a listed historic monument.

73rd Sainte-Mère-Église military antiques fair (Manche)

For history enthusiasts, the Sainte-Mère-Église military antiques fair is one of the most prestigious gatherings in Normandy. Organised by the Cercle Normand des Amis du Militaria in the village hall, this specialist fair is now in its 73rd edition, one of the oldest of its kind. Collectors, dealers and military-history enthusiasts trade uniforms, equipment, documents and D-Day objects. The location is no accident: this is where paratrooper John Steele hung from the church steeple on the night of June 6, 1944. A strong themed stop for anyone wanting to step off the beaten track of general flea markets, in the heart of D-Day country.

25th Bellou-en-Houlme vide-grenier, at La Chevallerie (Orne)

On Sunday June 21, the Brocante de Bellou association runs its June vide-grenier at the hamlet of La Chevallerie, in the Orne bocage. For its 25th edition, this event ranks among the best-established vide-greniers in the area. Open from 7am to 6pm, pitches at €2 per linear metre: gentle rates that draw a large number of private sellers. Far from the seaside crowds, you hunt here in an authentic village atmosphere, with real chances of finding rustic furniture, old tools or country tableware at low prices. The only sizeable Orne vide-grenier of the weekend, ideal for combining hunting with a discovery of the Normandy bocage, between Flers and the Mortainais.

Saint-Marc flea market in Rouen (Seine-Maritime)

Three times a week, on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, Place Saint-Marc hosts one of the most iconic flea markets in Normandy. Vintage furniture, retro clothing, vinyl, antique jewellery, tableware and assorted knick-knacks: dealers lay out their finds in an authentic hunting atmosphere, a few steps from the cathedral. The neighbouring food market draws a mixed public that drifts from vegetable baskets to shelves of old books. Weekly format, no signup for hunters: come when you like, leave with whatever you dig up. It is the weekend reflex for Rouen locals. Combine it with a walk through the antique dealers' district of rue Damiette, right nearby.

USSAPB foire à tout in Barentin, Carrefour car park (Seine-Maritime)

On Sunday June 21, USSAPB runs its foire à tout in the car park of the Carrefour shopping centre in Barentin. The vast paved space can host a great many sellers and visitors without the crush of a town centre, with easy access and parking by car. Clothing, toys, books, tableware, knick-knacks and small furniture fill the stalls of a family-friendly, popular foire à tout. It is the weekend's practical option in the Pays de Caux, about twenty minutes from Rouen, for anyone after volume and choice without the fuss. Free entry. An accessible neighbourhood format, ideal for a laid-back morning of hunting with the family.

Collège Émile Zola foire à tout in Sotteville-lès-Rouen (Seine-Maritime)

On Saturday June 20, the social and educational club of the Collège Émile Zola in Sotteville-lès-Rouen runs its foire à tout in the school playground. The setting is out of the ordinary: it is between the school buildings that private sellers, pupils and parents lay out clothing, toys, books and knick-knacks. The event supports the club's educational projects, school trips and activities, giving the day a community and charitable feel. One of the few Saturday displays on the Seine-Maritime side, ideal for hunters of the Rouen area who want to open the weekend a day early. A friendly, easy-going atmosphere, a stone's throw from the centre of Sotteville, in Rouen's southern suburbs.
