The great annual village feast of a small royal village in the Yvelines, with flea market and funfair
Every year at Whitsun, the small village of Les Alluets-le-Roi comes alive around its great flea market organized by the village Festivities Committee. Residents and exhibitors from neighboring towns set up their stands in the village streets, while a funfair entertains families and children. A flagship event of this rural village perched on the Yvelines plateau.
Perched on the plateau between Meulan-en-Yvelines and Orgeval, Les Alluets-le-Roi is a small village of fewer than 1,200 inhabitants whose name evokes the royal hunting estate it was for centuries. Its Saint-Nicolas church, surrounding woods and old houses give it the rustic charm typical of well-preserved rural Yvelines villages. It is in this authentic setting that the great Whitsun flea market is held each year.
The Whitsun flea market is the flagship event of the Alluets calendar. Residents, bargain hunters from neighboring towns and occasional exhibitors gather in the village streets, particularly around Rue des Bons Enfants, for a day of trading and sharing. Stalls offer a real village treasure trove: antique furniture, porcelain tableware, household linen, books, childhood toys, farming tools, knick-knacks and decorative pieces inherited from family attics. Authenticity is guaranteed, and prices remain gentle, far from the standards of large commercial fairs.
Beyond the flea market, Whit Monday at Les Alluets-le-Roi takes on the feel of a great village celebration. The Festivities Committee traditionally organizes a funfair with rides for children, and on-site catering means you can lunch without leaving the village. Everyone comes as much to hunt for bargains as to enjoy the festive atmosphere, meet neighbors and share a convivial moment.
Less well-known than the major urban events of the Paris region, the Alluets-le-Roi flea market is well worth the detour for bargain hunters who appreciate the authenticity of small village markets. You can often find, at gentle prices, deliciously old objects that have passed through generations and tell a story. It is also a chance to discover a little-known Yvelines village, just a few kilometers from Les Mureaux, Poissy and Saint-Germain-en-Laye.
The flea market is a perfect opportunity to explore this little-known corner of the Yvelines. Visitors can discover the forests and hillsides of the plateau, visit the nearby educational farm, or extend their walk towards the Château de Thoiry or the Zola House in Médan. An ideal way to combine bargain hunting, nature and heritage for a successful Whitsun day.
The Whitsun flea market of Les Alluets-le-Roi will take place on Wednesday 20 May 2026, Rue des Bons Enfants and adjacent streets. Organized by the Festivities Committee with funfair and on-site catering, it will liven up the whole village for a traditional festive day. Free admission.
