Big annual summer flea market at the Vulaines-sur-Seine village center, organized by the Festivities Committee
The Vulaines-sur-Seine annual flea market is the major summer gathering organized by the Festivities Committee in the heart of the village, along the Seine and at the gates of the Fontainebleau forest. This outdoor event brings together exhibitors and bargain hunters from across the region for a festive and friendly day of hunting, in an exceptional natural setting between river and forest. With village atmosphere, on-site catering and extended hours, it's one of the highlights of summer in Vulaines.
Every August, the Vulaines-sur-Seine Festivities Committee holds its annual flea market in the heart of the village. This summer event stands out for its outdoor format and extended hours, from 8 am to 6 pm, allowing exhibitors and visitors to fully enjoy a long day of bargain hunting and entertainment. On-site catering naturally extends the stroll, with the chance to lunch between stalls and share a friendly moment between neighbors and visitors.
Like many village flea markets, Vulaines's benefits from the commitment of the local Festivities Committee, a volunteer association that keeps municipal life going year-round. Committee volunteers handle organization, setup, exhibitor registrations and catering. Their commitment contributes greatly to the event's success and keeps alive the special village spirit of small Seine-et-Marne towns.
In southern Seine-et-Marne, along the Seine and a few steps from the famous Fontainebleau forest, Vulaines-sur-Seine enjoys an exceptional setting. The village hosted poet Stéphane Mallarmé's final years and keeps its departmental museum, attracting literature lovers worldwide. This setting between river, forest and literary heritage gives the flea market a unique atmosphere, very different from suburban or urban flea markets.
In August, the flea market draws many exhibitors who used spring cleaning and vacation time to prepare their stalls. You'll find the full range of flea market items: summer and winter clothing, toys, books, comics, dishware, trinkets, decoration, small furniture, vinyl records, sports and gardening items. Vacationing bargain hunters staying in the Fontainebleau forest's campsites and guest houses often take advantage of the event to discover the village and find a few mementos.
Coming to the Vulaines flea market in August is also a chance to discover summer Seine-et-Marne. Nearby Seine banks offer swimming, walking and picnicking possibilities. The Fontainebleau forest, a world temple of bouldering, welcomes climbers throughout the season. Fontainebleau castle, Moret-sur-Loing and Barbizon round out an ideal cultural and countryside program for a summer escape less than an hour from Paris.
The flea market takes place in the village center, from 8 am to 6 pm. On-site catering. Exhibitor registrations with the Festivities Committee. Access by train from Fontainebleau-Avon station or by car from the A6. Free admission for visitors.
