A village vide-grenier in the heart of Civraisien

Voulême is a tiny village in southern Vienne, in the Civraisien en Poitou natural region, on the border with Charente. With fewer than 200 inhabitants, the commune embodies rural villages where community life endures thanks to a few dedicated volunteers. The annual vide-grenier on Sunday 17 May 2026 is a local highlight.

Events at this scale offer authentic chining, far from urban bustle. Sellers are mostly locals from the village and nearby communes (Civray, Voulon, Savigné, Saint-Pierre-d'Exideuil). Some travelling dealers too.

The Civraisien, authentic country

Civraisien en Poitou is southern Vienne with bocage landscapes, Romanesque churches (classified in the 'Sud-Vienne, terre d'histoire romane' network), preserved rural atmosphere. Charroux (Most Beautiful Village of France) with its millennial abbey, Civray with its Romanesque Saint-Nicolas church, are the gems.

Voulême, though small, shares this rural heritage character. Parish church and old farms witness agricultural past. The Charente river nearby marks the border.

A day of rural chining

Typical schedule: exhibitors 6-7am, public from 8am, ending mid-afternoon. Bar and catering by comité des fêtes volunteers: sandwiches, fries, cold drinks, regional dishes.

Extending the visit

Civraisien is worth staying in: Charroux abbey (15 km), Civray and Saint-Nicolas church (10 km), Saint-Pierre-sur-Charente lake. Great walks along little lanes.
