Empty your room and flea market at the Salle Polyvalente de Boussac, town of George Sand's castle
The Vide ta Chambre de Boussac is a spring event organized at the Salle Polyvalente, avenue d'Auvergne, in this small medieval town dominated by the castle of Boussac, made famous by George Sand. Every year in March, this indoor flea market invites individuals and families to empty their rooms, wardrobes, and attics. Under a marquee and indoors, the stalls offer clothing, toys, books, small furniture, decorations, and everyday items. Pitch space is €2 per 1.20m table.
The Vide ta Chambre de Boussac is a participatory and family flea market concept that invites everyone to part with objects cluttering their rooms, wardrobes, and closets. Organized in March, at the end of winter, this event takes place at the Salle Polyvalente, which has a capacity of 350 people, on avenue d'Auvergne, offering an ideal covered space for this early-season event. The stalls, set up indoors and under a marquee, offer a varied selection of second-hand items at low prices.
Boussac is a small town with character in the northeast of Creuse, dominated by its imposing castle overlooking the Petite Creuse river from a rocky outcrop. This castle, a listed historic monument, is famous for having inspired George Sand, who stayed there several times and discovered the tapestries of the Lady and the Unicorn, now housed at the Musée de Cluny in Paris. The town retains a picturesque medieval center with its steep streets, half-timbered houses, and the collegiate church of Saint-Martin.
The "vide ta chambre" concept is particularly aimed at families: children sell toys and books they no longer use, teenagers part with clothes and accessories, while adults offer small furniture, decorations, tableware, and various items. Pitch space is available for €2 per table of 1.20m and €1 per clothing rack, a modest price that encourages participation. Food and drink are available on-site.
The indoor and marquee setup protects exhibitors and visitors from the unpredictable weather of March in Creuse. The Salle Polyvalente in Boussac, spacious and well-equipped, offers a comfortable setting for this winter treasure hunt day that heralds the return of sunny days and the outdoor flea market season.
