Flea market and car boot sale animated in the town hall square with children's activities and concerts
Every May, the Place de la Mairie in Nouhant transforms into a vast space for treasure hunting and festivities, driven by the Comité des Fêtes Nouenfête. 50 to 100 exhibitors, both individuals and professionals, offer second-hand items, trinkets, toys, clothing, books, and furniture in this square lined with typical granite houses of Creuse.
What sets the Brocante Vide-Grenier de Nouhant apart from neighboring events are its varied activities. An open stage with concerts sets the rhythm for the day, while children enjoy games and a merry-go-round. Pétanque enthusiasts can compete on the designated courts. Thematic exhibitions and the creation of a live mural painting by a local artist add a cultural dimension to this festive day.
Located about twenty kilometers southwest of Montluçon, Nouhant is a small village of less than 300 inhabitants bordered by the Petite Creuse river. The municipality, perched at an altitude of 436 meters, offers a hilly landscape of hedgerows and meadows, on the edge of the Creuse and Allier departments. Its discreet but charming heritage, with its church and washhouses, bears witness to the traditional rural life of this northeastern part of the department.
The Comité des Fêtes Nouenfête enlivens the cultural and festive life of Nouhant throughout the year. The brocante vide-grenier, a flagship spring event, illustrates the dynamism of this association that brings a rural village to life through friendly and open events for all. The pitch is free for exhibitors, encouraging participation from as many people as possible.
