About Le Printemps d'Huriel

Le Printemps d'Huriel is an annual event held on the first Sunday of April in this medieval town in the Bourbonnais countryside. Flea market, old-fashioned market and flower and plant fair combine to offer a full day of discoveries from 7 am to 6 pm. The Donjon de la Toque, the village's emblem, overlooks this friendly, family-oriented event. Free admission.

Le Printemps d'Huriel: Treasure Hunting at the Foot of the Keep

Every first Sunday of April, Huriel celebrates the arrival of spring with a festive day combining a flea market, an old-fashioned market, and a plant fair. This small town of character in the Bourbonnais bocage, dominated by its impressive Romanesque keep, the Donjon de la Toque—one of the most beautiful in the Bourbonnais region—offers an exceptional heritage setting for this spring event.

A Triple Event

Le Printemps d'Huriel combines three complementary aspects. The flea market and car boot sale take over the streets and squares of the village, offering antique furniture, crockery, trinkets, and various items to bargain hunters. The old-fashioned market showcases traditional know-how and local Bourbonnais products. The flower and plant fair completes the picture, with nurseries and horticulturalists offering plants, seeds, and vegetation for the garden.

The Donjon de la Toque

The Donjon de la Toque, built in the 11th and 12th centuries, is one of the most remarkable monuments in the Allier department. Its massive silhouette and granite walls overlook the village and form a striking visual landmark for flea market visitors. The village also retains a Romanesque church, old houses, and a washhouse, testaments to a rich past that harmoniously blends with the flea market atmosphere.

The Bourbonnais Bocage in Spring

The first Sunday of April marks the awakening of nature in the Bourbonnais bocage. Hedges bud, meadows are covered in flowers, and the countryside comes alive with new activity. The plant fair fits perfectly into this spring renewal, while the flea market invites you to rediscover objects from the past in a new light.
