Annual flea market and car boot sale at Parc Saincthorent and Place du 8 Mai 1945 in La Cellette
The Brocante Vide-Greniers de La Cellette is held each late summer at Parc Saincthorent and Place du 8 Mai 1945, in this village located between Boussac and Gouzon, northeast of the Creuse. Organized by the Comité des Fêtes, this event brings together professional and private exhibitors for a day of outdoor treasure hunting. From 6 a.m., the first stalls are set up in these two areas, offering a varied route between the shaded park and the village square.
The Brocante Vide-Greniers de La Cellette unfolds over two complementary sites: the Parc Saincthorent, a shaded green space conducive to strolling, and the Place du 8 Mai 1945, a lively village square. This dual location offers treasure hunters a pleasant and varied route, alternating between the tree-lined paths of the park and the market atmosphere in the square. From 6 a.m., exhibitors take over the premises, creating an early morning atmosphere where bargains are found at dawn.
Located northeast of the Creuse department, La Cellette is a rural village halfway between Boussac and Gouzon, in a landscape of hedgerows and wooded hills. The commune takes its name from the monastic cells that once marked this territory. The Parc Saincthorent, named after a former local family, is a green space appreciated by the inhabitants and serves as a prime setting for the commune's festive events.
The Comité des Fêtes de La Cellette organizes this flea market and car boot sale, which is one of the highlights of the village's associative life. Volunteers ensure the welcome of exhibitors, the management of pitches, and the animation of the day. Exhibitor registration takes place on the morning of the event on-site, starting from Place du 8 Mai 1945, facilitating spontaneous participation from local sellers.
Scheduled at the turn of August and September, this flea market marks the end of the summer season in Creuse. Private individuals wishing to clear out their attics before autumn and professionals offer a range of items: furniture, crockery, trinkets, books, clothes, toys, and garden tools. A refreshment stand and light catering complete this bucolic day in a village with the discreet charm of the Creuse bocage.
