The Lions Club car boot sale on Place Baragnon, in the heart of the calanques village
The Vide-Grenier du Trocalions is organized each year by the Lions Club Cassis les Calanques on Place Baragnon, an emblematic square in the center of Cassis. Reserved for individuals, this car boot sale hosts between 50 and 100 exhibitors in an exceptional Provençal setting, a stone's throw from the fishing port and the calanques. Entry is free for visitors. The event takes place on Sundays, from 9 am to 6 pm, subject to favorable weather conditions. Profits are donated to the Lions Club's social and humanitarian actions.
The Trocalions is the annual car boot sale organized by the Lions Club Cassis les Calanques on Place Baragnon, the museum courtyard, and Place de la République. This event, exclusively for individuals, brings together between 50 and 100 exhibitors each year who offer their second-hand items, clothing, books, toys, and trinkets. All registration fees are donated to the Lions Club's charitable causes.
Place Baragnon is the beating heart of Cassis. Lined with century-old plane trees, cafes, and the town hall, this pedestrian square regularly hosts markets and events. On the day of the Trocalions, the bargain hunters' stalls are set up from Place Baragnon to Place de la République, passing through the courtyard of the municipal Museum of Popular Arts and Traditions, offering visitors a stroll through Cassis heritage.
Nestled between the white cliffs of Cap Canaille — the highest maritime cliff in Europe, reaching 394 meters — and the turquoise coves of the Calanques National Park, Cassis is one of the most emblematic villages on the Provençal coast. Its picturesque fishing port, lined with colorful facades, has attracted visitors and artists for centuries. The painter Derain, the writer Frédéric Mistral, and the filmmaker Marcel Pagnol celebrated the beauty of this unique site.
The AOC Cassis, created in 1936, is one of the very first appellations d'origine contrôlée in France. Across nearly 250 hectares, twelve wine estates produce white wines renowned for their freshness, minerality, and aromas of citrus and white flowers. The wine tradition of Cassis dates back to antiquity, when the Phocaeans planted the first vines around 600 BC. Bargain hunting at the Trocalions on a Sunday morning, then lunch at the port with a glass of Cassis white wine: that's the ideal program for a day in Cassis.
After browsing the stalls of the car boot sale, visitors can extend their day by exploring the trails of the Calanques National Park, discovering the coves of Port-Miou, Port-Pin, and En-Vau, or climbing to the summit of Cap Canaille to admire a breathtaking panorama of the Mediterranean, the bay of Cassis, and the Riou archipelago.
The 2026 Trocalions returns to Cassis on Sunday, June 1st, on Place Baragnon. A car boot sale reserved for individuals, organized by the Lions Club Cassis les Calanques. Free entry, 50 to 100 exhibitors expected, from 9 am to 6 pm.
Cassis is accessible from Marseille via the A50 motorway (Cassis exit), about 30 minutes away. Cassis SNCF train station is served by TER Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur. Paid parking is available at the entrance to the village. The town center is pedestrianized. Place Baragnon is 200 meters from the port.
