Solidarity car boot sale at the port of Barsac, for the benefit of the Sekhela Diarga school in Senegal
The Amitié Barsac Sénégal association organizes its car boot sales at the port of Barsac (33720), a picturesque site on the banks of the Garonne. These events, held twice a year in May and July, combine the pleasure of treasure hunting with international solidarity. The profits are entirely donated to the Sekhela Diarga primary school in Senegal, helping to fund school supplies, equipment, and educational projects.
Barsac is a commune of about 2,000 inhabitants located on the left bank of the Garonne, in the heart of the Sauternes-Barsac appellation. The village is renowned for its exceptional sweet wines and its architectural heritage, including its 18th-century church and its wine estates. The port of Barsac, a former river trading post, offers a charming setting for this car boot sale with views of the Garonne and the hills of Entre-deux-Mers.
Private sellers offer clothes, toys, books, trinkets, and various objects in a warm and committed atmosphere. The refreshments and food prepared by volunteers add a gourmet touch to this day of solidarity. The Amitié Barsac Sénégal association, active for several years, has forged a strong link between this Gironde village and the Senegalese community, making each car boot sale a concrete act of generosity.
