Car boot sale on August 15th in Bény-Bocage, Souleuvre en Bocage
Every August 15th, Assumption Day, the village of Bény-Bocage hosts its annual car boot sale organized by the Comité des fêtes. This event is part of the summer festivities of Souleuvre en Bocage, a new commune in Calvados created in 2016, which brings together Bény-Bocage and fourteen surrounding communes of the Norman bocage.
The stalls of individuals line the streets of the Bény-Bocage village, offering a varied assortment of everyday items: clothing, toys, books, dishes, trinkets, small furniture, and bric-a-brac of all kinds. The atmosphere is that of an authentic village car boot sale, where exchanges between neighbors and visitors create a warm and friendly atmosphere.
The August 15th car boot sale is integrated into a broader festive program. The following Sunday, the Comité des fêtes organizes the municipal festival with its traditional méchoui, its bal musette, its inflatable structures for children, and its raffle. These festivities punctuate the summer in Bény-Bocage and bring together residents and holidaymakers for moments of conviviality.
Souleuvre en Bocage is known for its famous Souleuvre viaduct, 61 meters high, which has become a renowned bungee jumping site. The surrounding bocage, with its hedgerows, green meadows, and hollow paths, offers a peaceful setting for nature and hiking enthusiasts. The August 15th car boot sale is a great opportunity to discover this authentic rural territory of Calvados.
