UCAM flea market, flagship back-to-school event
Each end of summer, the UCAM (Michelais Traders and Craftsmen Union) runs its big flea market in Saint-Michel-en-l'Herm's town centre. 2025: 28 September. 2026 TBC. The union's energy makes this one of south-Vendée's best-organised events.
About 100 exhibitors
Town-centre streets fill with ~100 stalls. Stall price €3.50/m on booking. Mostly private sellers, some professionals. Clothes, toys, crockery, books, records, knick-knacks, furniture, tools. Local traders add lively offers, tastings and dedicated stands.
Saint-Michel-en-l'Herm, Marais gateway
About 2,300 inhabitants, near La Tranche-sur-Mer and Luçon. Former Benedictine abbey (7th c.) — long major religious hub. Saint-Michel Marsh and polders for lovely post-flea walks.
Atmosphere and animations
Especially lively: flea market + open shops. Animations, bar, food (sandwiches, crepes, sometimes mussels-fries), trader stands. Late September often pleasant between late summer light and autumn mildness.
