August 15th car boot sale on the island of Groix, organized by the OMS
Every August 15th, the OMS of Groix (Office Municipal des Sports) organizes a car boot sale around the Halles of the village. Approximately 25 exhibitors, islanders and summer visitors, offer trinkets, clothes, books, and various items in a relaxed atmosphere, typical of Breton island life.
The Island of Groix, located off the coast of Lorient, is an exceptional territory. 8 kilometers long, it is home to about 2,300 permanent residents. The island is famous for its François Le Bail Nature Reserve, its white sandy beaches (including the rare convex beach of Les Grands Sables), its schist and glaucophane cliffs, a blue mineral unique in Europe. The village, with its bell tower topped by a tuna as a weather vane, recalls the island's tuna fishing past.
The intimate format of this car boot sale, with about twenty exhibitors, matches the spirit of the island: conviviality, simplicity, and authenticity. It's the ideal opportunity to combine a day of treasure hunting with the discovery of coastal paths and Groix's heritage.
