In Val-d'Oise, neighbourhood yard sales have a special flavour: they bring together residents of the same area, creating a community spirit that large fairs cannot always provide. The Puces des Cailloux Gris, organised every late May by the Association des Cailloux Gris, embody this ideal perfectly. Between 200 and 300 private stallholders — private individuals only, professionals are not admitted — take over the neighbourhood streets for a day of popular and convivial second-hand browsing.

Private vendors only: the guarantee of authenticity

One of the distinctive aspects of the Puces des Cailloux Gris is that only private individuals are accepted as stallholders. No professional dealers, no stock resellers: here it is neighbours clearing their wardrobes, families refreshing their children's wardrobe, and enthusiasts parting with part of their collection. This exclusivity guarantees the freshness of the items on offer and reinforces the authenticity of the event.
