Every fourth Monday of the month, Mirandol-Bourgnounac keeps up an old Ségala tradition: its monthly market. On 27 April 2026, from 8am to 1pm, the village centre comes to life with general stalls, local producers and a cattle market, in an authentic rural atmosphere between Carmaux and Villefranche-de-Rouergue.
A monthly market rooted in Ségala tradition
Mirandol-Bourgnounac, on the banks of the Viaur river in the north-east of the Tarn, has kept for generations the tradition of a monthly market in the village centre. Heir to the cattle fairs that shaped 19th and 20th-century Ségala life, this fourth-Monday market is one of the last of its kind in the department. 27 April 2026 marks the spring meeting.
A real snapshot of rural Ségala
From 8am, breeders and local producers set up: cows and calves (the cattle market remains the historic heart), sheep's cheese, artisanal charcuterie, chestnut honey, seasonal vegetables, fruit. A few general stalls add clothing, tools and bric-à-brac.
Authentic village atmosphere
Farmers from the Ségala plateau and the Viaur valley, villagers and neighbours meet and chat. A rare dive into a living rural France.

Discreet but charming heritage: church, schist houses, ruins of the Barrières castle, and above all the nearby Viaur gorges for hiking and kayaking. Extend your day with a walk along the river or a visit to Sauveterre-de-Rouergue.

The Mirandol-Bourgnounac monthly market was held on Monday 27 April 2026, from 8am to 1pm, in the village centre. As every fourth Monday of the month, producers, breeders and general vendors animated the squares in a typical Ségala atmosphere, between Carmaux and Villefranche-de-Rouergue.
Looking back on April 2026
On 27 April 2026, Mirandol-Bourgnounac regained its traditional market-day face. From 8am, Ségala breeders, sheep's cheese producers, farmhouse charcutiers and vegetable growers set up on the village squares. General vendors added clothing, tools and bric-à-brac.
Throughout the morning, the mood was that of genuine country markets: lively conversations on cattle prices, old-style transactions, coffee breaks at the village bar.
